Friday BBT Day 5

Friday was spent healing and driving to the city of Helen in North Georgia. The people here never say "Georgia". They are always very careful to say, "North Georgia" ???
As it turns out the city of Helen in (NORTH) Georgia is an Alpine village. I am not kidding.
I would have loved to have been at that original city council when someone piped up with, "HEY, Lets turn our town into an Alpine Village!" "Well, goldurn it!" "Great idear" and then everybody put an Alpine Front on their building. Now don't get me wrong - you still have your, "Tarantula shows", and "Auto parts and Tattoos". The city did look adorable. And it was PACKED with turists. Looking for schnitzel and oompa music in "North Georgia". Go figure.

Thursday Night

Raining sheets of rain. We walk into the first bar we can get into nearest our hotel.
Turns out to be one of the best nights of our trip. The name of the bar is "The Capitol Grille".
Until recently it was a very exclusive, men only, downtown power meeting type of joint.
There were Senators everywhere. John and I went up to the bar and soon made best friends with everybody. I know what your thinking. Oh no. Not you two. But its twue! Paul to our left was a cement tycoon, and a super nice southern gentleman. It turns out that gentleman on our right was Kris Koenig from Interstellar Studios, an award winning documentary producer. Kris was in town town to promote his latest project and his contact was unable to meet him due to the storm.
And so he joined us on our travel through the barbecue and bars of downtown Nashville. That is Kris and I at the Capitol. What an amazing person. I was honored to meet him.
We had dinner at Jack's Bar-B-Que and then saw excellent live music at The Stage. .
To finish the night in style we returned to The Capitol Grille. This place had the most amazing retro bathroom (see the pics).
Songs have been written about our consumption on this evening.
Friday morning was rough.

Thursday afternoon

Checked into a very classy Sheraton, right in the heart of downtown Nashville. Rack rate for the room was $219 and we paid $60. Thank you Priceline.
I had this view of the Capitol Building from my room. And then came the "tornado". Looked like a little thunderstorm to us.

Thursday BBT Day 4

Woke up this mornin, turned on the Weather Channel (in honor of my Papa), and realized we were going to drive right into a line of tornadoes.
Aaaaaaa we are from Cleveland. Weather doesn't scare us. So off we drive to Nashville. We stopped for our Barbecue lunch at The Golden Rule.
JM had the brisquet and I had the smoked sausage. Both lunches were great (but not Lil Mickeys). The deep fried pickles were outstanding.
I may have to buy a deep fryer.

Note to Harrahs

We were informed by the ultra efficient Front Desk staff that to get the lowest possible rate we had to use their web site.
So we did. From ten feet away. What idiots.

A true sign that the apocalypse is upon us.
Beer Pong. At the Casino. What's next?

Wednesday BBT Day 3 Supplemental Log

When you own a really cool car like the A5 - the valets leave it right outside the Casino door. All weekend. Seriously.
It made it real convenient when we needed stuff from the trunk.
